GEMINI AND NANO BANANA IMAGES TO SVG

Gemini and Nano Banana Image to SVG Converter

Gemini returns a PNG or JPG. This guide rebuilds it as vector paths you can recolor, scale and open in Illustrator, Figma or Inkscape.

Gemini does not export SVG. Whether you used the Gemini app or the Nano Banana image model inside it, the download is a raster file, and renaming it to .svg does not create paths. To get a real vector you vectorize the download: upload it here, let CleanVector remove the background and trace the shapes, then export SVG or a transparent PNG.

The steps below take about two minutes. The middle section explains how to prompt Gemini so the image traces cleanly, which saves more time than any setting in the vectorizer.

THE SHORT VERSION

Gemini image to SVG in four steps

Save the original file from Gemini rather than a screenshot. A screenshot adds scaling and compression, and the tracer reproduces every artifact it finds.

  1. 1

    Download the image

Use the download control on the generated image. Gemini saves a PNG or JPG at the model's native size.

  2. 2

    Crop any visible watermark

Gemini can place a small mark in a corner. Crop it out first, or the tracer turns it into paths of its own. The invisible SynthID watermark does not affect tracing.

  3. 3

Upload it above and choose Enhance

Enhance re-renders soft or noisy edges before tracing. Use Quick only for flat, sharp artwork.

  4. 4

    Compare, then export

Check the vector next to the source, adjust colors, test it on light and dark backgrounds, and download SVG or PNG up to 4096 px.

Ask Gemini for an image that traces cleanly

Vectorizers rebuild regions of flat color. Photographic lighting, film grain and soft gradients become hundreds of tiny paths. When the destination is SVG, ask Gemini for the visual structure a vector needs.

A prompt that works: "A flat vector illustration of a red fox reading a book, bold outlines, five flat colors, no gradients, no texture, centered on a plain white background, no text." Change the subject and the palette; keep the constraints.

  • ◆Say "flat vector illustration" or "sticker style" and name the number of colors.
  • ◆Ask for a plain white or single-color background. Transparent backgrounds are not something the image model produces.
  • ◆Exclude text unless you need it; generated lettering traces badly and misspells.
  • ◆Ask for one complete subject with space around it, not a cropped scene.

What the vectorizer changes and what it keeps

The trace keeps the silhouette and the color regions. It removes the full-canvas background, closes small gaps in outlines, and merges near-identical colors so the file stays editable rather than becoming a cloud of nodes.

Can you use a Gemini image commercially?

Google's terms for Gemini outputs allow you to use what you generate, and the vectorized file is derived from your own download. Check the current Gemini terms for your region and account type before using a result in a product, and avoid prompts that reproduce trademarks or a living artist's style.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can Gemini or Nano Banana export SVG directly?

No. Gemini image generation returns PNG or JPG files. To get an SVG you vectorize the download with a tool such as CleanVector, which traces the shapes into editable paths.

Does the SynthID watermark break vectorization?

No. SynthID is invisible and lives in the pixel pattern; the tracer ignores it. Only a visible corner mark needs cropping before you upload.

Which mode should I use for Gemini images?

Enhance for most Gemini output, because the model produces soft edges and light gradients. Quick is faster and fine for flat, sharp artwork with few colors.

How many credits does it cost?

A direct conversion costs 1 credit and Enhance costs 4. New accounts get 8 free credits with no card, and every result downloads as SVG.

Will the SVG open in Illustrator, Figma or Cricut Design Space?

Yes. The output is standard SVG with plain paths and fills, no embedded images, so it opens in any vector editor and in cutting software.
